About the APRSC

Unveiled in December 2011, New Brunswick’s Action Plan for a New Local Governance System includes the objective of ensuring increased collaboration, communication and planning between the province’s various communities. With that goal in mind, 12 new Regional Service Commissions (RSCs) were created.

The Acadian Peninsula Regional Service Commission (Commission de services régionaux Péninsule acadienne/APRSC) is community-governed and acts as a delivery agent to ensure that communities receive the services they pay for. It does not constitute another level of government; decisions are made by the communities via their representatives on the Commission’s board. The province’s RSCs have no taxation powers, although they do bill for services provided.

The APRSC works on behalf of its member communities and receives funding from them.
